Citroen Berlingo Brake Pads: OEM Part Number

Genuinely worth knowing: Berlingo has used a wide span of front disc sizes (266mm to 304mm) across its long production history and engine range — pad thickness and compound scale with disc size, so a single universal part number isn't safe to quote. Confirm your exact generation and engine before ordering.

A Genuinely Important Warning: Never Leave the Ignition On While Changing Rear Pads — Citroen Berlingo Brake Pads

If your car has an electronic parking brake, this is worth taking seriously before starting a rear pad job: leaving the ignition switched on while releasing the handbrake and changing the pads has been documented to cause a genuine EPB fault, with real confirmed fault codes (C156C-92 and C1561-00, relating to the actuator sensors) appearing afterward. Always switch the ignition fully off once the parking brake is released and before starting any work on the rear calipers, rather than leaving it on for convenience.

A genuinely important distinction depending on your car's age: earlier EPB-equipped models (broadly pre-2013/14) use a single central motor under the front seat connected to a Bowden cable running to both rear wheels — on these, pads can genuinely be changed without any diagnostic computer at all, since the cable simply releases when the parking brake itself is off. Later models switched to individual motors built into each rear caliper, which do require diagnostic equipment (Lexia or DiagBox) to put into service mode before pad replacement. Confirming which system your specific car has before starting the job will save you a wasted trip either buying unnecessary diagnostic access or discovering partway through that you do need it.

If the EPB has stopped engaging or releasing after pad work, a genuinely useful first troubleshooting step before assuming a deeper fault: turn the ignition on and leave it for around 5 seconds, then activate the parking brake switch to apply it and hold for a further 5 seconds. If this doesn't restore normal function, the fault is likely to need proper diagnostic equipment to investigate further.

Citroen Berlingo Brake Pads: Brake Pads Are One of the Few Truly Universal Parts

Every version of the Berlingo uses brake pads that wear down through normal use — the only real variable is how quickly, which depends on engine, trim, and (where fitted) whether the car has any form of regenerative braking to ease the load.

Citroen Berlingo Brake Pads: What They Do

Brake pads clamp against the discs to convert the car's momentum into heat, slowing it down. On any version of the Berlingo with hybrid assistance or regenerative braking, this system handles a meaningful share of everyday slowing, which can genuinely extend pad life compared with a purely petrol or diesel equivalent.
