A Genuine False Positive Worth Ruling Out First — Skoda Superb Engine Mount

Before assuming worn engine mounts, it's genuinely worth checking a simpler, cheaper possibility: an exhaust system mount that's slipped or failed can produce a very similar vibration or rattling noise as the exhaust itself vibrates against the underbody or another component, rather than being properly secured and isolated. DMF replacement is a considerably bigger, more expensive job than an engine mount (commonly £500+ once labour is included, since it usually means removing the gearbox), so correctly distinguishing between the two before committing to a repair is genuinely worth a proper diagnosis rather than guessing.
